Waukesha County VanpoolWaukesha County Vanpool is a new and exciting way for people to commute to work! How Does Waukesha County Vanpool Work?A group of 4 to 7 employees commute to and from work in a van provided by Waukesha County. It is most successful when members of the group have similar work schedules and live in the same geograhic area. Each group requires a primary driver, at least 1 secondary driver and a coordinator. The coordinator can be one of the drivers. Do I have to be a Waukesha County Resident to Participate? No, residents and non-residents can participate. The key is that one end of the commuter trip begins or ends in Waukesha County. So if you live or work in Waukesha County, you can participate. How are Groups Formed?Waukesha County Vanpool expects interested employees to form groups on their own. Your Human Resource Department may be able to help you locate other employees interested in joining a group. Waukesha County Vanpool can support these efforts by presenting and discussing Vanpool to interested employees and companies upon request. What is included in the Vanpool Program?Waukesha County will provide a newer Dodge Caravan, a comprehesive maintenance plan, insurance, roadside assistance, and fuel for a monthly fee. How Much Does Vanpool Cost?Vanpool costs a flat $575/month per group and includes all of the items listed above and 375 commuting miles/week. The price is the same no matter the size of the group, so the more members in your vanpool group, the less it costs (as low as $82/month). Who Determines the Route and Schedule of the Vanpool?Vanpool members have lots of flexbility and get to set up their own routes and schedules. The main key is that one end of the commuting trip must end or begin in Waukesha County. If you need assistance in planning your route or schedule, Waukesha County Vanpool can assist. Do the Drivers Receive Anything for Driving? The primary driver is responsible for operating the van safely, storing the van at his/her residence when not in use and for keeping the van on its maintenance plan. For this, the primary driver has first priority for the 125 personal use miles/month of the van. (Other drivers are to be given access to the van as well). How are Employers Involved?Employers are asked to collect the fees from their employees participating in a vanpool and make the payments on behalf of the van pool group. Typically this is done by a payroll deduction. Other payment methods can be discussed if necessary.
