Education has been called the keystone that holds civilization together. In Waukesha, most of the area’s school systems began very early, during the community’s founding. Public Schools, The Industrial School For Boys(The Reform School), and Carroll College all opened their doors before the American Civil War.

Even more recently, new school systems have been built. The University Of Wisconsin System opened a two year extension in Waukesha in 1966.
