Private Swimming PoolsZoning Code 22.58 (2)(h) Private swimming pools.DEFINITION (Am. #30-89) A private swimming pool, a receptacle for water, or an artificial pool of water, which has at any point a depth of more than two feet, whether above or below the ground, used or intended to be used by the owner thereof, or invitees, for swimming, and includes all structures, appurtenances, equipment, appliances, and other facilities appurtenant thereto. PROHIBITION No swimming pool shall be allowed in any R-District except as an accessory use and unless it complies with this chapter. PERMIT REQUIRED (Cr. #34-74) No person shall proceed with the construction, installation, enlargement or alteration of any private residential swimming pool and appurtenances within the City unless a permit therefor shall have first been obtained from the Building Inspector's Office. A certified, licensed Electrical Contractor is required to do any electrical work. The following electrical information is provided only to help a homeowner position their pool. A pool can not be located closer than 5 feet from the underground electric lines of Wisconsin Electric. A pool can not be located closer than 10 feet from the overhead electric lines of Wisconsin Electric. The pump's electrical receptacle must not be closer than 5 ft, from the inside walls of the pool but not greater than 10 ft. Other receptacles on the property must be located at least 10 feet from the inside walls of the pool. Where a permanently installed pool is installed at a dwelling unit(s), at least one 125 volt, 15 or 20 amp receptacle shall be located a minimum of 10 feet and a maximum of 20 feet from the inside walls of the pool.
