Lottery & Gaming Credit

Please click here for Lottery Credit Form

You are allowed a lottery credit if your property was owner occupied as of January 1st.  This credit will be reflected on your tax bill if the pre-certification form was signed and returned to the Waukesha County Treasurer.

If this was your primary residence on January 1st, and the lottery and gaming credit is not reflected on your tax bill, you can file a late claim form at the Waukesha City Clerk/Treasurer's Office until January 31st.

If you wish to file a claim after January 31st, it will be necessary to file the claim with the State of Wisconsin.  Forms are available in the Waukesha City Clerk/Treasurer's Office or on the State of Wisconsin Website.

If you no longer use the property as your primary residence you must notify the Waukesha County Treasurer's Office.  They can be reached at (262) 548-7029.

First Dollar Credit

The 2011 real estate tax bills will list a credit line called “First Dollar Credit” right above the Lottery and Gaming Credit line. The amount is expected to be around $62.86 per parcel and will be applied to all tax parcels with improvements (i.e. not vacant lots).

The First Dollar Credit is a pass-back to the public of revenues from the State general fund collected through personal income tax, corporate tax, and sales tax.

If a property owner qualifies for the credit and it is not reflected on their tax bill, they should contact the Waukesha County Treasurer prior to January 31. After January 31, the owner must file a late claim with the Wisconsin Department of Revenue.
