LICENSESThe following licenses are required to perform
any work in the City of Waukesha:
Commercial:
Building: no license required
Electrical: electrical contractor's license
Industrial Electrical: factory, mill and shop
Plumbing: plumbing contractor's license
HVAC: hvac contactor's license
Sewer: plumbing contractor's license, restricted (sewer)
plumbing contractor's license, master plumber
Residential:
Building: State Certification required
Electrical: electrical contractor's license
Plumbing: plumbing contractor's license
HVAC: hvac contractor's license
Sewer: plumbing contractor's license, restricted (sewer)
plumbing contractor's license, master plumber
Homeowners doing their own building, electrical, plumbing and/or heating; no license is required. A permit is still required for any work that will be done. To determine if a homeowner is qualified to do their own plumbing or electrical work, the plumbing or electrical inspector may ask questions to ensure the project will be done to meet code requirements. If the inspector believes that allwork will meet code they will then approve the issuance of a permit.
