HVAC PermitsAll heating, ventilation and air conditioning work in the City of Waukesha requires a permit before work is started! In addition, all heating, ventilation and air conditioning work shall be done by a licensed contractor. There is one exception to the licensing requirement: A homeowner, living in a single family dwelling within which they intend to do heating or ventilation work, may do their own work. A permit is still required however. Before issuing a permit, the HVAC Inspector may interview the homeowner to determine if the proposed work will be performed to Code. Caution A homeowner may not do any air conditioning or refrigeration work however.
