GardenAll structures that are not attached to the principle dwelling on a lot are considered "accessory" buildings. Accessory Buildings must observe zoning restrictions:If you live in a one family dwelling, and you have an attached garage, the largest accessory building you can erect is 150 sq. ft. If you have a detached garage, the largest accessory building you can construct is 150 sq. ft. In either case, the accessory building(s) square footage may not exceed 20% of the rear yard area. The square footage of all accessory buildings on the lot must be combined and cannot exceed 720 sq. ft. or 20% requirement. If you do not have an attached or detached garage, the largest accessory building you can erect is 720 sq. ft. If you live in a two family dwelling, and you have an attached garage, the largest accessory building you can erect is 150 sq. ft. If you have no attached or detached garage, the largest accessory building you can erect is 1152 sq. ft. The maximum height of an accessory building shall be one story and no greater than 15 feet. An accessory building shall not be located closer than 5 feet from the nearest part of any other building. An accessory building shall not be located closer than 3 feet from any lot line. This measurement is from any over-hang of the building. An accessory building shall not be located closer than 50 feet from the front lot line. Constructing, or placing a pre-built shed on your property will require a Building Permit Along with the completed permit application, you will need to submit three copies of a survey of your lot (OR two copies and a CD), showing the location of the proposed shed relative to the property lines and to any other structure on the property.
