Oversize Garbage Cans

Residents are reminded that the largest size of garbage can that is allowed to be set at the curb or alley for emptying is 33 gallons. Please check the size to make sure it is not too large. The employees of the collection contractor have had injuries pulling bags out of the larger cans or lifting the larger cans to empty them. If you have a can over the allowable size, you may want to use it at your house to store garbage, but on garbage day, take the tied plastic garbage bags to the curb. Or, if you decide to purchase a new can, use the oversize can for storage of other items in your garage, for example. If you have additional questions, you may call 524-3600.
