Welcome to Fire Station #1

The atrium is visible through large glass windows and is open to the public during normal business hours. Up the stairs is the waiting area and reception desk. The atrium displays a large display honoring our fallen firefighters from the past and will be home to the new life-size bronze sculpture entitled, "I Remember". The sculpture will be created by local artist John Rawlins.

City of Waukesha firefighters work 24 hours a day, so a portion of the firehouse is devoted to creating live-in accomodations for the firefighters. Above, left is a picture of the kitchen where the firefighters cook, prepare and eat their meals. The picture on the right is of an individualized dorm room where firefighters can rest between those middle of the night emergency calls. Each dorm room is individualized to provide privacy and a quiet place where firefighters can go to study and relax at the end of the day.

Daily physical fitness is essential to the life of a firefighter. State of the art equipment (purchased through the Fire Act Grant) and a spacious room provide a perfect workout environment. A separate room for turnout gear is located off of the bay floor. The darker, well ventilated room protects the turnout gear from the sun, which will degrade the material.

Conference and training rooms provide spacious and technologically advanced rooms. These rooms are utilized frequently for change of shift meetings, staff meetings, trainings, interviews, presentations, etc.
