Erecting a fence on your property oes not require a permit

There are several that you need to be aware of:

Supporting horizontal and vertical members of a fence shall face the interior of the lot on which the fence is erected.

Gates must be designed so that they do not swing out over any public sidewalk or alley.

If not exceeding, at any point, 4 feet in height above the elevation of the surface of the ground at such point, they may be located in any yard.

If not exceeding, at any point, 6 feet in height above the elevation of the surface of the ground at such point, they may be located in any required rear yard or side yard, provided that lot, abutting in the rear the side lot line of another lot in an R-District,no such fence shall be closer to the side street lot line than the least depth of the front yard required on such other lot fronting the side street.
