CIVIL ENGINEER II - TRAFFIC

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required along with a minimum of two years of Traffic Engineering experience required. Five years of experience or more desired. Registration as a Professional Engineer and/or Professional Traffic Operating Engineer from the State of Wisconsin desirable. Experience should include investigation and preparation of traffic signal design, signal timing, traffic safety studies, and design drawings and specifications for traffic signal installation.  Working knowledge of Traffic Engineering Manuals/MUTCD/FDM/Signal timings. Ability to program NEMA Controllers and work with department personnel on sign and signal maintenance. Work assigned by the administration of the Department of Public Works. Working knowledge of Traffic Engineering software such as Syncro 7 is a plus.

FIRE CODE ENFORCEMENT INSPECTOR

The City of Waukesha is accepting applications for the position of Fire Code Enforcement Inspector. This is a responsible inspection and code enforcement position that works with the Fire Prevention Bureau. Work involves inspection of new/existing structures, issuance of notice, citations, and related plans review work. Work is performed under the supervision of the Fire Marshal or the Assistant Chief of Administration. Work is performed independently and employees are expected to exercise judgment and discretion in carrying out assigned activities. Work is characterized by a high degree of responsibility for fire inspection and code enforcement activities necessitating considerable technical expertise. Minimum requirements: 19 years of age, High School diploma or equivalent, valid driver’s license, Certified Firefighter I or Associate Degree preferred. One year experience required in fire prevention or suppression duties with knowledge of building construction, materials, and codes. Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen, psychological suitability exam, and criminal background check.

VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR
Part-time (.5) - 20 hrs/wk
 
The City of Waukesha is accepting applications for the position of Volunteer Coordinator with the Waukesha Parks, Recreation & Forestry Department.
 
Position Summary: Performs professional work at the administrative level to coordinate the volunteer program for all service areas of the Parks, Recreation & Forestry Department.
 
Examples of Duties:
1.      Develops and coordinates systems for recruitment, training, placement, supervision, evaluation and retention of PRF volunteers.
2.      Develops and maintains a Volunteer Management Manual.
3.      Coordinates volunteer job/position descriptions related to level of responsibilities.
4.      Coordinates and assigns community volunteers with PRF volunteer positions.
5.      Develops community partnerships to increase volunteerism with PRF, including liaison with United Way Volunteer Engagement Program and Corporate Volunteer Programs.
6.      Supervises and evaluates volunteers and volunteer projects as assigned.
7.      Coordinates the Adopt-A-Park program, in conjunction with WPRF Friends Group.
8.      Facilitates the promotion/marketing of volunteer opportunities and completed events to increase public awareness and participation.
9.      Develops a formal plan and procedure for volunteer recognition.
 
Minimum Qualifications:
1.      Bachelor’s Degree from a four (4) year accredited college or university in Parks, Recreation or Forestry Management, Public Administration, Communications, or other related Liberal Arts Field.
2.      Three (3) years of progressive, responsible experience in the management of volunteers required; parks/recreation/forestry setting preferred.
3.     Ability to pass a drug screen.
4.     Valid driver’s license with excellent driving record; obtain First Aid and CPR certification within 6 months of employment.
 
Normal Hours of Work:     This position is scheduled for an average of 20 hours per week. Hours will generally be worked during normal office hours of Monday thru Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. Some evenings and weekends as required.               
           
Salary/Benefits:  Exempt position, starting minimum annual salary - $23,920; position benefits include prorated vacation, sick and holiday pay.

Position Summary: Performs professional work at the administrative level to coordinate the Special Events of the Parks, Recreation & Forestry Department.
 
Examples of Duties:
1.      Responsible for planning, organizing, scheduling, coordinating and implementing community wide and program specific special events.
2.      Works closely with Parks, Recreation & Forestry staff to facilitate all special event needs. 
3.      Develops and maintains community partnerships to maximize special event opportunities in the City of Waukesha.
4.      Establishes and maintains a customer focused approach for PRF special events.
5.      Utilizes volunteers and volunteer boards as a key component to special event planning and implementation. Assists with recognition of special event volunteers.
6.      Utilizes seasonal employees on a limited basis to coordinate special events. Is responsible for recruiting, training, scheduling and evaluation of the seasonal employees.  
7.      Assists with the facilitation of promotion and marketing of special events to increase public awareness and participation.
8.      Assists with special events in conjunction with The Park Foundation of Waukesha, Inc. and the Friends of WPRF. 
9.      Evaluates all special events with input from public, volunteers and staff.
10.    Prepares and monitors budgets related to special events, including development of alternative funding sources for special events. All financial reports to be current, accurate and consistently reliable maximizing cost recovery.

Responsibilities. The Library Director plans, organizes, directs, and controls all functions, operations, and activities of the Library, either directly or through senior management staff. The Director reports to an 11-member Library Board of Trustees and serves as a City Department Head for the City of Waukesha. The Director, under general direction of and within the policies set by the Library Board, is responsible for developing and presenting an operating plan, budget, and policies necessary to provide optimal library service to community residents. The Director is responsible for administering the programs of Library Service approved by the Library Board to accomplish the short and long-term goals established in its mission statement and strategic plan. Minimum qualifications: a Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited graduate library school; eligibility for a Grade 1 Wisconsin Library Certificate; a minimum of five years successful public library and/or library system experience, which includes at least two years of staff supervision and administrative experience; or such alternative or additional qualifications as the Library Board of Trustees may find acceptable as listed in the job description. Essential attributes and skills include: vision, creativity, energy and enthusiasm; demonstrated success in effectively promoting library services to the community through partnerships; political acumen; working within a municipal budget and governance structure, collaborative and consensus-building skills; and a thorough knowledge of current trends and “best practices” for library service. Proven success working effectively with a policy-making board is desirable.
