Performs skilled maintenance and repair of all City automobiles, trucks and other automotive equipment. 

Required:  High school diploma or equivalent with five (5) years experience and certification as a journeyman mechanic.  Must possess and maintain a commercial driver’s license with ABC endorsements and have an excellent driving record.  Must provide own hand tools.  Preferred:  Emergency Vehicle Technician Certification.

Hours:  3:30 p.m.-11:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Salary:  $25.35-$26.94 per hour

SUPERVISOR
STREET DEPARTMENT

Under the direction of the Director of Public Works supervises all street construction, repair and maintenance, installation and maintenance of traffic signals, signs and lights.  Coordinate the work of the street maintenance crews, signs and guides crews, snow removal operations and other services offered by the Public Works Department.  Assist in investigation of complaints and estimating job costs.

Required:  Thorough knowledge of material, methods and equipment used in public works construction projects, street maintenance and signs and guides projects, thorough knowledge of working hazards and safety precautions.  Ability to plan and supervise work of subordinates.  Ability to read blueprints and specifications, keep accurate records and prepare reports.  High school graduation plus trades or vocational training required.  College degree in Engineering or Construction Management preferred.  Six years experience in public works construction and maintenance work, some of which has been in a supervisory capacity.  Commercial Drivers’ License with A, B, C, N endorsements preferred.  Must have an excellent driving record.  Must have the ability to successfully complete drug screen and post offer physical.  Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs.

Salary Range:  $63,716 – $82,924

CITY PLANNER
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

Under the direction of the Director of Community Development, performs a variety of professional, supervisory, and technical level work in the current and long range planning programs of the City related to development and implementation and maintenance of land use and related municipal plans and programs.  Acts as Community Development Director in his/her absence.

Required:  Master’s degree in urban or regional planning from an accredited college or university with major course work in city or regional planning with five (5) to ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in city planning, three (3) years of which has been in a supervisory and administrative capacity or an equivalent combination of training and experience.  Member of American Planning Association (APA) and American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP).  Thorough knowledge of federal, state and local regulations and laws and comprehensive plans including their formation, process of adoption and enforcement regarding city planning and land development.  Knowledge of principles, practices and techniques of urban planning.  Ability to devise, prepare, complete and present reports, plans, charts and graphs.  Work with professional planning staff and supervise support personnel.  Work with public, private and lay groups on planning matters.  Valid driver’s license with excellent driving record.

Salary:  $79,725-$103,669

BUILDING & FACILITIES MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR
PARKS, RECREATION AND FORESTRY DEPARTMENT

This is highly responsible administrative and managerial work involving oversight of the Building/Facilities Maintenance Work Unit (BFMU) of the Park Maintenance Division, which is responsible for the care and improvement of the City’s park system buildings and facilities. The position also has primary responsibility for the planning and implementation of approved capital improvement (CIP) projects.  Reports to the Parks & Forestry Operations Manager and currently supervises 5.5 permanent positions and seasonal staff.

Essential Job Functions include, but not limited to:

  1. Regularly inspects and evaluates park system facilities and equipment and insures that they are being properly operated and maintained; implements repairs and improvements as necessary.
  2. Plans, designs, establish and recommend maintenance priorities and maintenance schedules; works closely with City Facilities/Asset Manager and utilizes City Asset Management Program to effectively develop repair, replacement and improvement programs.
  3. Establishes and maintains a high level of cleaning/custodial standards in all facilities, including development and use of evaluation and quality assurance measures; assigns and evaluates related staff and oversees any maintenance agreements to ensure compliance.
  4. Recommends items for inclusion in the departmental operating, CIP and fleet budgets; assists in the identification of any grant funding and alternative revenue opportunities.
  5. Oversees departmental construction projects and works closely with City engineering and project contactors and consultants to assure efficient completion of work.
  6. Works closely with the Recreation Facilities Coordinator, Recreation Division staff and Ground Maintenance Supervisor to best coordinate facility usage, rentals, programs, special events and related supervision, preparation and cleaning.
  7. Oversees pool maintenance operations with applicable Recreation Division staff to address ongoing maintenance, repairs, water quality, code compliance and improvement needs.
  8. Administers and enforces department policies, work and safety rules, regulations and disciplinary action consistent with City policies; makes recommendations for changes to existing policies and procedures related to the efficient and economical use of labor, equipment and services.

Graduation from accredited college or university with major emphasis in Building Construction and Facilities Management, Parks and Recreation Management, Engineering or Landscape Architecture or a closely related field, plus at least four years of job related experience with at least one year in a supervisory capacity. 

Must secure and maintain a Certified Pool Operator (CPO) and/or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) Certification and a Confined Space Entry Certification within one year of employment.  Must possess a valid driver’s license.  Have the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds or more.  Successfully complete a pre-employment physical with drug screen.

Salary Range: $63,716 - $82,924

ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN V
ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT

Responsible for major maintenance program with special emphasis on electrical duties as allowed by a Journeyman’s License, broad scope of sub-professional engineering assignments of considerable difficulty requiring advanced knowledge of computer-aided drafting, surveying, construction supervision and inspection.

Required:  Associate’s Degree with major course work in a related field and eight (8) years of experience in public works construction and/or maintenance with emphasis in electrical practices, drafting, surveying or equivalent.  Must possess or obtain a valid Journeyman’s License within six (6) months of hire.  Valid Driver’s License with an excellent driving record.

Salary:  $68,693-$79,874

INSTRUMENTATION/ELECTRONIC/SCADA TECHNICIAN
WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT

Responsible for maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and Instrumentation and Control (I&C) systems using programming through programmable logic controllers (PLC) for the wastewater treatment plant and lift stations. May require call backs for emergency situations.

Required:  High school diploma or equivalent.  Valid Driver’s License with excellent driving record.  Experience involving maintenance, calibration, programming and repair of real-time process control systems in an industrial setting. 

Preferred:  Associates Degree in Electrical Technology or related field.  Five (5) or more years of experience in the water/wastewater industry with demonstrated knowledge of ladder logic and networked HMI applications.

ADULT SOFTBALL COORDINATOR        
PARKS, RECREATION & FORESTRY

General Summary: The Adult Softball Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and daily supervision of the WPRF Adult Softball Leagues held at Saratoga Complex and Buchner Parks.

Reporting Relationships: Under the direction of the Sports Coordinator, performs coordination duties for the Adult Softball program.  This coordinator oversees score keepers and   umpires (in conjunction with the head umpire).

Specific Accountabilities:

1.     Coordinates assigned pre-season activities relating to Adult Softball leagues, including assisting with game scheduling and scorekeeper scheduling.

2.     Responsible for inventory of softball supplies needed at Saratoga Complex.

3.     Supervises Saratoga Softball Complex during all league games, including opening and closing complex, continually evaluating games and staff, promoting a fun, safe environment for all games, enforcing all park and program rules. Periodically observes softball games held at Buchner Park.

4.     Follows procedures for formal protests and follows throughout with Sports Coordinator.

5.     Ensuring general safety of all participants by responding to emergencies, documenting accidents and following emergency action plans (EPA) for weather related incidents.

6.     Will coordinate with grounds maintenance staff to determine whether games are playable regarding weather/grounds conditions.  Will not perform any grounds maintenance on the diamonds.

       7.  Schedules and coordinates rainout dates.

8.     Organizes and distributes awards for end of season.

9.     Assists with scheduling of and supervision of Softball City Tournament.

10.  Maintains WPRF Adult softball website including standings and weather updates.  Updates WPRF Information line as needed.  

11.  Completes payroll requirements on a timely basis for scorekeepers and any other required staff.

12.  Maintains files of correspondence, forms, records, reports, and other materials in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.

13.  Completes end of season report.

14.  Performs other tasks as requested or needed.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

1.     Must be 21 years of age or older.

2.     Experience in and/or knowledge of adult softball programming.

3.     Strong leadership and supervisory skills.

4.     Ability to communicate, be courteous and cooperate with other staff and the public.

5.     Strong organizational skills.

6.     Ability to operate computer software and other office equipment.

7.     Certification in First Aid and CPR (or willingness to obtain)

8.     Enthusiastic towards adults sports programming.

Required Hours/Rate of Pay:

       1. Pre/Post season planning hours not to exceed 40 hours.

2.     Season hours require Monday – Friday, 6:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m., for 16 weeks at the Saratoga Adult Sports Complex, approximately 400 hours, April 20 through August. Some weekends hours may be required for rainout scheduling. Total season hours are not to exceed 600 hours. 

3.     Rate of Pay:  $14.00 - $16.00 per hour
