2. Proud of Waukesha Company – Attached is a Biz Times article highlighting Gaco Western, which the City of Waukesha helped expand through industrial revenue bonds, which has created new shelters for military and disaster response.
3. Proud of Waukesha – Attached is an article with the great news that the Shoppes at Fox River received the Second Place Best New Retail Development Award at the Business Journal 2010 Real Estate Awards. Opus North told me that the Shoppes was the only new shopping center opening in 2009 in both Wisconsin and Minnesota. Last year Carroll University’s Pioneer Hall won Second Place for the Best New Residential Development and The Clarke Hotel and The Black Trumpet Restaurant won Second Place for the Best New Hotel Development. Waukesha should be extremely proud of our unprecedented economic development that has now received three prestigious awards.
4. Waukesha Awarded $92,000 Housing and Urban Development Grant for Lead Safety – Attached is the press release and official HUD letter with the fantastic news that Waukesha has been awarded a $92,000 grant from the Office of Healthy Homes and Lead Hazard Control’s Fiscal Year 2009 Lead Hazard Control Capacity Grant Program. This is a direct result of our membership in the U.S. Conference of Mayors and our 2009 $150,000 Award of Excellence that I was honored to accept on behalf of Waukesha last June. This grant will allow us to fix more houses and have a greater chance to be successful in applying for future federal grants.
